Integrative therapy for Womens wellness

Karin offers a unique holistic approach Integrating the Emotional Freedom Technique together with a creative flare in her sessions. She uses tapping as a powerful tool to support the therapeutic process together with the use of creative tools or the EFT approach on its own if preferred.

She always tailors her approach to meet the needs of her clients.

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE

(EFT) also known as ‘tapping’. It is a holistic healing technique that is based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. EFT requires you to focus on a negative emotion/situation/belief at hand. This can be a grief, fear, a worry, a difficult memory, or any unresolved problem/situation. You do this while maintaining your mental focus on this issue. Then you use your fingertips to tap on meridian points of the body.

Tapping on these meridian endpoints, while addressing the root cause of distress, sends a calming signal to the amygdala lowering the stress hormone- cortisol. Thus, tapping on these points sends a signal to the limbic centre of the brain saying you are safe. This allows you to feel relaxed and in control.  It  is a powerful method of feeling better about any area of life that you have any discomfort or upset about.

You can use the technique for any issues by tapping on correct pressure points while bringing the thoughts or emotions into consciousness. The aim is to find relief, relaxation and promote healing around emotional or physical issues that hold us back.

  • The therapeutic effects of this technique are recognised around the world and the effectiveness is supported by a large and growing body of scientific research.

It is similar to talking therapies but with a physical and mindful component.

CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY

is a form of psychotherapy where the creative arts are utilised within the therapeutic relationship in order to communicate and explore feelings and issues. Arts Psychotherapists are Master-level clinicians who use a diverse range of psychological approaches to work with clients and always focus on psycho-emotional development of the individual, never the aesthetic quality of the art product. Various creative tools are used to creatively communicate and express and to release inner thoughts and feelings. Art, movement and somatic exercises can be implemented in the sessions, encouraging clients to find different ways of expressing themselves, to regulate the nervous system and promote mental health and well being.

An involvement in the arts with a healing intention-the creative arts acts as a tool for personal expression, understanding and change within a supportive therapeutic relationship.

S.H, Saffron Walden, UK

‘Dealing with loss and traumatic experiences for a 10 year old is never great; conflicted, confused, angry, scared, and wounded. With the help of Karin's child-centred creative arts therapy, my son was able to rebuild his emotional resilience and gradually rediscover himself and reconnect with his feelings. Within several months, Karin helped transform him back into a confident, hopeful young boy who could talk about his feelings and better understand how to deal with life. Therapy gave him a clear path forward and armed him with a vast array of techniques to take on the future.  We will be forever grateful to Karin for everything she has done for us.’

D.G, Saffron Walden, UK

“I contacted Karin in order to seek help for my 11yr old daughter who had issues resulting from years of sustained mental abuse at the hands of her Mother.  Karin's profile stood out; being a very different approach from other therapists by using drama and art as a way of connecting and communicating with her Clients.  This medium proved highly effective for my daughter and allowed her to be very expressive and open up to Karin.

Very swiftly I noticed a stark difference following the sessions.  My daughter would go there with the weight of the world on her shoulders but an hour later, would skip out - brimming with confidence and energy!

After several months, the transformation in my daughter's happiness, confidence and zest for life is hugely apparent.  She presents as a very happy young lady, one who understands she has a voice that deserves to be heard.  Someone who is now happy to tell us what she's thinking, feeling and what she wants.  Karin has inspired her to be who she wants to be and has equipped her with the tools to help her deliver on that, have a safe mental space when needed as well as go out into the world unashamed of who she is.

I cannot recommend Karin enough.  She is warm, friendly, kind and insightful.  As a parent, I really appreciated the opportunity to debrief with her regularly and to both track how we felt the sessions were going and without pressure as to whether to extend or conclude for the time being.  Thank you for giving us our daughter back!”

Thao, Vietnam

"The workshop led by Karin amazed me by how she made the participants be open up their senses, feelings and emotion to each other. I really felt the connection between us even though that was the first time we met. Sincerely thanks to Karin for sharing us how to combine all kinds of art for the participant to choose the best suitable one for them."

Thanh, Vietnam

"I just want to say thank you to Karin. Thanks for inspiring me, for your positivity, creativity and understanding. It's not easy for people who living with mental illness! She was helping me and everybody at the workshop to understand our self, our feelings through to Dramatherapy. Such an amazing way, I've never seen something like that before.”

Tricia Nguyen Thanh Trang, Founder of The Wintercearig Project, Vietnam

“Thank you so much for being a part of this project. It meant so much to me and to all of us who are involved, especially to the participants. It was an experience of a life time. Opening up the possibility of how the arts can help us to explore and express ourselves.”

R.M, Singapore

“Our 3 year old was diagnosed with selective mutism and it was recommended we start art therapy. After doing some research online we discovered drama therapy and how there was evidence of how helpful drama therapy can be for children with anxiety and/or selective mutism. Karin came up as the only qualified drama therapist in Singapore. We reached out to Karin and she responded promptly and was empathetic to our situation. We felt she was concerned and genuinely wanted to do her best to help. Karin is also a parent and we believe that played a part too. Over the next 6 months of therapy we noticed obvious improvement in our child's confidence and self esteem and she was relaxing and becoming more and more confident talking to people. From being an extremely anxious and timid child who wouldn't speak to anyone other than her parents and helper, she became confident enough to speak up during "show and share" time at nursery and to talk to her teachers and peers. By the end of therapy Amelies teachers were describing her as a "social butterfly".

Not only did Karin help our child, but through several review sessions she was also able to guide us as parents and give us very helpful tips on things we could also do at home. We will forever be grateful to Karin for everything and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone else.”

J.B, mother of two, Singapore

“I felt very welcome without any judgement. Karin provides a safe environment where I can go deep into traumas and upsetting experiences or just fuzzy worries that cannot be defined yet. She has a very gentle and intuitive yet structured approach which makes exploration easy but focused. She goes into a lot of detail when preparing the tapping session to fully understand what it is that I want to address. When she guides me with her summaries during the session I feel really understood and have fantastic realisations that I can reflect on after the session. Because I feel so understood, I can relax and fully dive into the journey.  She has a perfect combination between professionalism and passion to help. I find it so refreshing to work with somebody who really cares. Although we go into upsetting depth she keeps the therapeutic environment very positive and uplifting. She listens very carefully and takes time to understand. Karins tapping guidance is clear and compassionate, leaving me lighter and positive.”

P.D, mother of two, Singapore

“I had a chance to meet Karin when I have relocated to Singapore. Karin has offered me her EFT sessions, which were extremely helpful for me. During the EFT session I could reconnect to sensations in my body, to my feelings. I could as well become more aware, be able to release tensions in my body and liberate myself from previous traumatic experiences with compassion and forgiveness. Karin's EFT sessions are very powerful and efficient.
I can highly recommend Karin. She is an excellent and very experienced therapist.”
